For ten years now my and I have been stuck flying American Airlines as we reached Platinum Status in its frequent flyer program (Advantage) and stuck with it to keep the ';perks';. This year we are considering using HA from San Diego as HA%26#39;s RT first Class is over $800 less expensive then AA%26#39;s and it is a non-stop in both directions rather than through LAX and we can avoid the red-eye coming home.
Has anyone flown HA in first class recently? If so would you mind describing your experience and if possible compaing HA%26#39;s first class service to AA%26#39;s first class service. While $$$ are important we do not want to be penny wise and pound foolish.
TIA
Hawaiian Airlines First Class?
I have never flown first class on AA, but I think it is top-notch on Hawaiian. One of the best I%26#39;ve ever experienced!
You, of course have a nice big seat that reclines in all different directions. You also get a free ';Digi Player'; which is like a dvd player that has TV shows, movies, music, etc on it.
What sets Hawaiian apart in my experience is the level of attention they give to you and the FOOD!! They are almost constantly hovering over you asking if you need anything and bringing you food, snacks, juice, drinks and just about anything you want. Real tableware, glasses and linens.
Hot washcloths for your face and hands. For each meal you have your choice of three entrees.
My last trip I had breakfast that started off with warm bagle and cream cheese/smoked salmon. Then an omelette with cheese, mushrooms, avocado, dried tomato and fingerling potatoes. For dinner on the return flight I chose macadmia nut crusted Ahi with mango beurre blanc, lemongrass jasmine rice and baby bok choi. Dessert was chocolate macadamia nut pie. Oh, and all the Firestone vineyard merlot I could toss back. If you haven%26#39;t heard of it, Firestone is a vineyard in Santa Barbara owned by the grandson of Harvey Firestone, the tire manufacturer. Their wines are actually quite good.
You can see their current menus at http://www.hawaiianair.com and look under ';Flight Schedule/Info'; then ';In-flight services';.
Have fun !!
Hawaiian Airlines First Class?
I completely agree w/Kwils--I fly HA first class to the Mainland whenever I can swing it (miles usually)...service is outstanding and the food is pretty darn good too. I have only flown AA first class once---flt delay due to a broken widget of some kind and they could only get me into first class on another flt---darn! It was fine, warm cookies and cold milk were good but I don%26#39;t remember much else about the flight. Oh yeah, kids behind me kept kicking the seat and pulling on it and waking me up---flt attendants wouldn%26#39;t do anythig. I think HA%26#39;s service is sooooo much better.
The last time I flew first class w/HA was in Nov --so pretty recent. Do check the link Kwils provided. You can check the movies playing, menu and etc before you leave.
Just wanted to thank Kwills 11 and Mrsfuzz for taking time to respond. All opinions are greatly appreciated!
