Hi,
We are a family of 3, a couple with a 4 year old daughter and want to celebrate our 10 year anniversary in Maui this month.
We would like a Bed n Breakfast place near the beaches. From the pictures the Sugar Beach and Camaole beach look nice. Any recommendations? We want a full kitchen (i.e., stoves etc, not just microwave).
Thanks,
ANA
Good BnB in Maui
I don%26#39;t think you want a bed and breakfast, look into a condo instead. You will have lots more room for your daughter and a full kitchen and private bathroom. If you want resort stuff look into the condos in Kihei or Kaanapali - read some of the other posts to get ideas such as Whaler and Embassy suites. We prefer the quiet of an ocean front unit in Honokowai at one of several complexes there - Mahina Surf, Polynesian Shores, etc. These have pools and laundry facilities and are ocean front.

By the way, some folks love Sugar Beach, others complain about seaweed and bad smells along there. It is a shallow area that might be better for little kids.
You also mention Kamaole beaches. We have stayed at Kamaole Sands and other complexes in Kihei and the beaches there are great for little kids, Kam III even has a playground. Kamaole Sands had a kiddie pool and two jacuzzis in addition to the big pool, in unit washers and dryers and gas bbqs on the premises. It is much bigger and a bit more expensive than the smaller complexes but a close walk to lots and to the beach.
I can recommend Steve and Tonia Baney%26#39;s mauicourtyardcottages.com. I stayed for quite a long time and would have loved to stay longer but they were booked. Good luck, it%26#39;s a great place, close to everything and a hot tub and barbeque in your back yard. Very clean and every thing you need for the water (and games, vcr/dvd, tv).
Good luck, hope they have an availability for you.
Sysie949-thanks for the address for BnB in Maui. We will be in Maui in Sept. %26#39;06 and are trying to locate decent places to stay that aren%26#39;t resorts. We%26#39;ll look into your recommendation.
stay away from Sugar beach, extremely windy most of the day and not clean waters at all.
The Kamaole beaches ( 1,2,3) are all wonderful family beaches.
Most B and B%26#39;s do not offer full kitchens, but there are many condo choices in South Kihei ( the sunniest spot on Maui) and also Wailea ( firther souht, upscale but deals to be had). Stay away from North side of Kihei, dirty waters.
Check out VRBO website ( vacation rentals by owner) for tons of options.
