Okay, I%26#39;m nervous. We leave this weekend and the weather predicts rain showers all week. We are staying in the Wailea area. What are my chances we have rain every day? Any activity ideas on a rainy Maui day?
rainy weather
I%26#39;M going to go out on a limb here and guess that you%26#39;ve been looking at weather.com - if that%26#39;s the case, stop it right now!
Weather.com is notoriously bad for making the weather look terrible for large areas of Hawaii when the predicted rain is likely to be either very scattered or very brief. That%26#39;s because they group large areas together under one forecast, and Hawaii is a land of many, many microclimates.
This is where you should get your Hawaiian weather forecasts:
www.hawaiiweathertoday.com/content.php?pid=52
As you can see the chance of rain in your area ranges from zero to 20% all week long. That%26#39;s a 20% chance that SOME rainfall will fall at SOME time in that area during the time in question - not that there is a 20% chance of it raining ALL day, just a 20% chance of raindrops falling at some time.
This is not uncommon, and although no one can promise anything, it%26#39;s actually a pretty decent forecast, because it means that there is between 100% and 80% that you will get NO rain whatsoever (not matter how brief or how light) during the day or night in question.
Pretty darned good odds I%26#39;d say. People always get sooooooo nervous when the see showers forecasted. The fact is, yeah it may rain on you, and it%26#39;s aways possible you could be drenched, but the likelihood is the weather will be pretty darned nice most of the time, and that any rain you get will be infrequent, brief, and even somewhat welcome. Often it rains in Upcountry and from the beach areas where%26#39; you%26#39;ll be you can look upslope and see the rain maybe a mile or 2 away, but it just hangs around up there and the beach areas remain dry.
Don%26#39;t worry about it. Go and have a GOOD time.

You really don%26#39;t want to go to Maui and miss seeing the beautiful rainbows. Enjoy.
Thanks for your info. You are right, I was looking at weather.com. Rain or not, I%26#39;ll be in paradise!
here in Washington State you can tell its summer because the rain is warm. Warm rain in Paradice is fine with me. I to have been looking at the weather. I know on Maui 95%of the rain is in the AM and clears to a wonderful day.
From most popular places on Maui you can drive 20 or 30 minutes and get out of the rain. It%26#39;s rarely raining everywhere at once.
enjoy!
