Hawaii with a baby?

I am a single parent of a 1 yr old boy and was thinking of taking a vacation to Hawaii. (I%26#39;ve never been) Everyone thinks I am crazy because I won%26#39;t be able to do everything I could if I went alone and they say he wouldn%26#39;t have fun. The was I see it, he is young, he isn%26#39;t going to care if he is in Hawaii or Walmart =) Am I crazy? Are there things for us to do?

Hawaii with a baby?

The way I see it, a single mom with a baby is just as entitiled to a little R%26amp;R as the rest of us. When my kids were little, we were visiting family there, which certainly made it easier, but I loved taking my little ones to the beach to play in the sand. On Oahu, Haunama Bay is a very protected beach area where there are no harsh waves- an easy place to bring a baby.

It%26#39;s true that you amy be limited in what you can do, but that%26#39;s true at home as well, isn%26#39;t it?

Maybe to make the journey a little more interesting for you, you could find an empathatic friend who wanted to come along??

Oh, do be sure to always lather baby in tons of sunscreen and have him wear a hat- the one thing you don%26#39;t want to have happen is to have a baby sick with sunburn!

Hawaii with a baby?

Go!! My husband had a business trip to Hawaii 12 years ago and I was 5 months pregnant with a 14 month old!! I was not going to miss the trip or leave the baby behind.

The Time change was tough on me and the baby, but we had a great time. Take it easy and enjoy the ambience. I was alone much of the day and we took our time and wandered around and enjoyed the scenery. We are going back with the kids now in April. They are 13 and 11. We will be on the go more now, but not too much!

It is going to be difficult going anywhere on your own with a 1 year old. Should you give up travelling because of that - NO!!! (I%26#39;m assuming you are travelling alone).

Will this be the first time you have been away without support from friends or family with the baby?

If so, maybe somewhere closer to home in case things go pear shaped may be better.

Wow,, I say go! I bet he will love the Zoo and the Marine Park in Waikiki! He will for sure love the waters! Get a floatie, sunscreen and have at it. The only thing I can think of that you can%26#39;t do is go partying and maybe a hike would be tough...but everything else is great with a child no matter the age!
