I%26#39;ll be in Kauai for my honeymoon from May 30-June 5. What are some DO NOT MISS attractions, restaurants, etc. that I should be sure to check out during my time on the island?

Kauai Activities?
Oh, I imagine that we will do a small amount of hiking, but I%26#39;m curious as to what some do not miss sights are. In addition, what luaus would you recommend, or what other evening activities are out there to consider.
My first thought is that you need to get a copy of the Ultimate Kauai Revealed - it will list almost every detail about activities, beaches, restaurants, etc. It%26#39;s just excellent.
My favorite things: just driving around as much as possible and stopping for shave ice anywhere you see one, seeing the Waimea Canyon and Kokee State park, the Kilauea lighthouse and bird sanctuary, Spouting Horn, farmer%26#39;s markets for produce (white pineapples and little bananas), AND snorkeling and enjoying all the wonderful beaches - that was probably our favorite activity. Our favs: Ke%26#39;e beach, Tunnels, and Lydgate. We also did the usual tourist things: Smith%26#39;s luau and the boat ride to the Fern Grotto. And checked out restaurants all over the island. That was recently discussed on the forum too - listing everyone%26#39;s favorite places to eat. Hope this helps you some. The neat thing is that you can be really busy and choose to do a ton of activities or do absolutely nothing but head to the beach and be surrounded by some of the most incredible scenery. Enjoy! :)
I agree that enjoying all the beaches and snorkelling are our favorite things to do. Definitely see the sunset from the Beach House. If you don%26#39;t want a full dinner, you can sit in the lounge area and order appies and still enjoy the fun when the sun goes down. (We actually enjoyed that more than sitting in the dining room--more casual atmosphere and talking with the waitstaff)
Get the blue book--Ultimate Kauai--it%26#39;s definitely the best guidebook I%26#39;ve ever used.
DO NOT MISS the Napali coast. Either by helicopter or boat. My favorite thing to do. Absolutely breath-taking!!
Be careful with boat trips promising Napali Coast...each company uses its own discretion. We were there last week and VERY disappointed with Captain Andy%26#39;s. When ALL the other companies were going up north, they decided not to go there. BIG COST! Totally pissed us off because we weren%26#39;t told that they weren%26#39;t going north until we arrived---at 6:30 a.m! Too late to make a change to the other companies...and I talked to others who went north that same day!
Helicopter ride is a DON%26#39;T MISS in our family%26#39;s book. We did it a few years ago and our kids did it last week! DEFINITELY worthwhile! Lots of companies to choose from.
We enjoyed Kintarro%26#39;s for sushi and Japanese. However, the Japanese ';cook-at-your-table'; thing is no different than Kobe or Benihana. Their sushi was INCREDIBLE. However, YOU CANNOT ORDER SUSHI FOR DINNER IF YOUR RESERVATION IS AT THE CHEF-TABLE! We were soo disappointed because 4 of our 7 wanted sushi only and had to order full meals from the table menu!
Waimea Canyon---drive then hike around---definitely don%26#39;t want to miss that!
Drive from North to South (or South to North) depending upon where you%26#39;re staying, and enjoy stopping...make it a full day adventure!
For really good Japanese, try Hanama%26#39;ulu Cafe. It looks like a dump from outside; don%26#39;t be put off.
I too was on Kauai last week. We did the Dolphin catamaran to the Napali coast and it was AWFUL. The waves were HUGE, and the sea was rough and we were unable to snorkel. everybody was sick. we could not even see the coast because we had to stay so far out and there was a heavy mist. When we got back to our condo that evening, we talked to a couple who went to the other side of the Island with Captain Andy%26#39;s and they had a delightful day. NExt time I%26#39;m going with Captain Andy%26#39;s
