Lahaina Shores beach - swimable or not swimable?

Confused. I%26#39;m trying to figure out what to expect. I%26#39;ve read it%26#39;s not swimable, and then I%26#39;ve read it%26#39;s fine for snorkling..?? I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s way down on the list of visited beaches in Maui but what makes it not swimable?

Lahaina Shores beach - swimable or not swimable?

I didn%26#39;t stay there but did go to Feast at Lele and could see the Lahaina Shores from there. It didn%26#39;t look like there was much sand on the beach, so that%26#39;s maybe why some have said it%26#39;s not swimmable. If all you%26#39;re doing is going snorkeling then you wade into the water via the rocks. Didn%26#39;t seem like Lahaina Shores was the kind of place you%26#39;d laze on the beach. It was in a primo location to take in the action of Lahaina, though.

There%26#39;s water there, but it%26#39;s just not anything special. I would hate for people to think ';this is Hawaii'; if they were on a Lahaina beach. Not really for snorkeling, either. Lahaina is a great little town - not to be missed, but do drive elsewhere for swimming and snorkeling, as Maui has some really beautiful beaches and other great places to snorkel. Get Maui Revealed - it%26#39;ll give you the scoop on where to go. :)

The beach in front of Lahaina Shores is very poor. The beach is very narrow, and the sand is not white or powdery. The water is shallow and full of coral. It is not swimmable (except maybe with water shoes and then only with difficulty. The pool is very ordinary - nothing spectacular. If you are looking for a nice beach this is not the place for you.

But if you head towards Kihei from Lahaina there are miles of decent beach along the road, and places to park. We stopped and had our own ';private'; beach for hours.

we were driving past it all the time and there was never ever anybody there. so one day we decided to get out to stretch the legs finally... the scrub, bushes, etc comes very close to the beach, it%26#39;s pebbly and sand is kinda brown - very narrow strip next to the trees. i did see a snorkeler off shore - but there%26#39;s nothing there - it%26#39;s like by the road side!

The beaches around that area are not the best... Kanapali is not that far from Lahaina and it has better beaches... it is a great place to stay beacause lahaina is near by....

Personally, if you want nice beaches stay near Kihei or Wailea

Hi

Stayed @ Lahina shores in september...LOVED IT.YES the beach is narrow and alot of coral in de ocean.. we only swam in it once..

But I highly reccommend Lahina Shores. The location is ideal. pool was actually fine always quiet.. used bbqs there few times too.I loved that the beach was there even if we only used it for just walking.I was also concerned about the beach but we found that during the day we were usually seeing other parts of the island..the days we just wanted to hang out we lay in the garden and enjoyed the convenience of being close to a town (the main town).

we will return to Lahina shores,

enjoy.

Loved the Lahaina Shores...great value and clean rooms, great full kitchens. The beach is a mixed sand beach (black and brown)with small lava pebbles, it is a short sanded beach with calm waters becasue of the rock shore breaks along the sea wall. The Lahaina Shores is next to a residential area resulting in a quiet, barely populated beach. Worth mentioning, though, is the fact that the resort is literally feet from the shore and you can literally through a rock from your lanai into the ocean. The sound of the waves on the shore that enter your ocean front condo is amazing and very soothing to fall asleep to!
