Ritz Carlton, Maui - Any opinions?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Hawaii in November. The Ritz Carlton Maui Club Level sounds like a deal, however, there%26#39;s a lot of negative posts regarding the rooms, grounds and service. I am a hospitality interior designer and am picky about aesthetics, especially when it comes to Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons. Do you have an opinion? Is there another resort that might be better suited?

Ritz Carlton, Maui - Any opinions?

The Ritz is certainly very nice. I think the negative comments are just based on folk%26#39;s personal preferences (everyone has opinions you know). The service when I went was certainly up to par with those of other Ritz hotels. I suppose that the top 3 resorts on Maui would be Four Seasons, Grand Wailea and Ritz. After these, you have lots of excellent ones such as Hyatt, Westin(s), Marriott, Fairmont, and Hotel Hana Maui which are all very good.

The one issue with Ritz is that it is located up north in Kapaulua so the weather in November may not be as nice up there as ones down in Wailea (4S, GW).

I guess if you could give us more information on other key things you are looking for, that would help folks around here giving you recommendations.

I would go with the Four Seasons or the Fairmont in Wailea. The weather will be much better there. It tends to get more cloudy, windy and misty to the north, which is where the Ritz is located. We stayed at the Four Seasons last March and it was sooo beautiful. We%26#39;ve already booked the Fairmont for next Christmas. Have a great trip!

Wife and I stayed there in May for 7 nights and we loved it (and were worried about the reviews also). I see the negative reviews and I still wonder what they are talking about. We were upgraded to a suite (which may have enhanced our opinion a tad), and I do agree that the furnature and TV are a bit outdated, but we could have cared less. Granted, some of the rooms may be worn and smelly or whatever are in the reviews, but we did not see any of that. The previous poster does mention that it is in Kapalua which is more secluded which is true, but we were looking for that. As far as the club level goes, my sister and her husband have stayed there twice, and they rave about it and the rooms. Hope you guys decide to stay there.

Returning to the Ritz this March, can%26#39;t wait!

Had the best time of our lives when we went before. Kapalua is absolutely beautiful. Ritz just adds to it! I%26#39;ll post a review when I get back in March.

We were at the Ritz in March 2005 and loved it! We ended up changing our flights and extended our stay we loved it so much. We have been to Hawaii too many times to count but the Ritz was our best trip ever. Kapalua is the most beautiful part of Maui, in my own opinion. We only had rain at the end of our trip, but it was all over the island including Lahaina and Wailea. The weather is unpredictable pretty much anywhere you go in Hawaii. Just go with the flow and you will have a great time.

The rooms are fine. Nothing to complain about really. Maybe some updating would help. The bathrooms are great though and the bed was very comfortable.

We have stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani twice and loved it too but the Ritz is truly something special. And we truly enjoyed our dinners at a restaurant by the Village Golf course called Vino!! Scrumptious.

Have Fun!
