I%26#39;ve never rented a car anywhere before, so I have no clue... what should I expect to pay for a compact or midsize car for 9 days on Maui?
Rental car- what can I expect to pay?
go to budget rental cars on line we are paying about 400 for 11days.

well I%26#39;m renting a 300m chry. for 10 days and costing me $600.00 I%26#39;m sue that you can find a much better deal than that. Get the insurance....the last time I had parked the car and came back to find the side crushed in, I had to pay out the nose, even though it was a hit and run....
I rented an econ from thrifty for $150 for 8 days. It was new, ran fine, and got great mileage. Toyota Prius or something like that.
checkout discounthawaiicarrental. I had a midsize car for 8 days over New Years (high season) for $200. When I seached expedia, cheaptickets, etc the lowest I had found was about $400 for the same time. but stay away from Budget! we had a huge problem with them. we ended up getting our rental for free, but it was not worth the hassle.
Hi atticus,
If this is an ';';of course Dudley';, I apologize, but do you know that your auto insurance policy should have covered all damage except for the deductible and most credit cards will compensate for that amount? Believe the only documentation required is a copy of the police report %26amp; invoice for damage repair by the car rental company.
The only item you should/might get stuck with is ';out of service charge'; while the car is in the shop. In the ';old days';, it was often advisable to just pay out of pocket because the claim would often result in an insurance premium hike that, over 3 years, would = the amount of the claim, but anymore, many repair shops report the item to a national clearinghouse that insurance companies subscribe to and they often penalize policyholders for not reporting accidents.
The typical charge for CDW works out to an annualized rate of $3,600-$4,400; many times the cost of equivalent coverage of auto insurance policies.
Take the rate quoted and double it for a real estimate. You%26#39;ll be amazed at the Airport taxes, surcharges and other crap that gets added on. If you get price quotes ask them for a FINAL number you will be paying at checkout. Each vendor may act a bit differently.
I second the poster who said try out discounthawaiicarrental.com. Used them last month in Maui ... $110 for 4 days for a midsize -- all taxes and fees, etc.
Search on hotwire.com or priceline.com to get an idea of what you should be paying.
You should be able to get a mid-size for around $30-$35day, taxes included. This should be typical in most places, except in some major metro areas like New York, Boston, etc.
Check out Aloha Rental Car....I got a Jeep Wrangler at $415 for 11 days!
It is cheap if you go with the right company.
