My hubby and I will be in Maui starting on the 12th or February.. We really could use some advise on special things not to miss and romantic getaways %26amp; dinners.. I would love to surprise him with a whole day of romance on the 14th... Please help me get the most out of this week... 1st time w/o kids in 17 years!! Thanks!!
1st Maui Experience
Congrats on a well deserved break! First thing to remember so as to get the Maui experience right is: Don%26#39;t try to do too much! Make pool/beach time close to your accomodations a priority. Pick up some of the little bananas and sticky, ripe Mangos from a small market or fruit stand because you will not find better treats anywhere off the Islands! Book the old Lahaina luau a few weeks in advance because it sells out far ahead of time and I believe it is the best. Definitely take the drive to Hana, its amazing. I can%26#39;t think of the name of the restaurant, but if you%26#39;re staying in the kaanapali side of the island, head north just a bit past napili and there is an awesome restaurant up on a gorgous hillside on a golf course with scrumptios dishes and a really nice view. Just have fun and relax!
1st Maui Experience
I highly recommend Hotel Hana!!! It is heaven on earth, and you will not want to leave!!!!
Thanks for the great advise.. one more ?
What is your favorite Luau?
We%26#39;re going to Maui and Oahu from Feb 4th-11th and we have booked the Lahaina Luau. I hear it%26#39;s one of the best ones in Maui.
For luau - Old Lahaina Luau.
Go on a snorkel sail on the Gemini (geminicharters.com) or the afternoon whale watch.
If you like sushi, go to the ritz carlton (great sushi bar with a great view) plus they have live entertainment in the lobby (next to the restaurant).
Check out the free hawaiian music nightly at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel.
If you are into live theater, take in Ulalena. Not the most extravegant production, but decent performances, especially by the guy doing most of the percussion. That guy absolutely thrashed!
BTW, we found the drive around the north end of the island maybe more picturesque. Make sure to stop when you see the %26#39;best bananna bread on the planet%26#39; sign. I think it might be.
I like Ulalena a lot. I think you get more out of it if you know a little bit of Hawaiian myth and history. You should probably call soon about tickets.
The drive around the north side of west Maui is a good one if you%26#39;re not a timid driver.
We will be staying at the Sheraton Maui?? What should we expect??
The most romantic thing we did was renew our vows on the beach. Try:

What a GREAT idea... Thank you!
