Pearl Harbor waiting...

We definitely want to visit Pearl Harbor when in Hawaii February. I have read all about getting there early - standing in line and first come first served. Ok - so is there places for us seniors who cannot stand long to sit? Do we both have to pick up our own tickets? This is important. Thanks.

When you get there, there should be plenty of parking. I remember it was a little confusing but we made it. Don%26#39;t bring anything in except a camera and wallet. They don%26#39;t allow backpacks or anything of that sort inside. You should beable to get your ticket quickly as you walk in the front entrance and on the inside there are many places to sit. I went there on Veterans day and we didn%26#39;t have to wait in the ticket line very long at all. Your ticket will have a time on it. You will line up a little before it is your turn. Don%26#39;t worry about being the first one in line they only hand out a certain amount of tickets for each time slot. After you go in, you will watch a movie and then they will have you exit to the boats. There is plenty of seating on the boats. The memorial also has some benches to sit on, but not many. Anyway, it is incredible and very emotional. I hope you will enjoy yourself. Aloha

You will have to pick up your own tickets. However while waiting in line there are benches at various locations...while one of you is saving your space in line, one could sit awhile then you could change places. My daughter was pregnant at the time, and this worked out well for us.

February is probably not a big time for visiting PH. I was there on Dec 7 -- PEARL HARBOR DAY -- and picked up tickets at noon for the 3:00 presentation without waiting in line at all.

I got to the Arizona site at 10 for a harbor tour, and there wasn%26#39;t really a line, either.

I have been out to the memorial many times. I have NEVER arrived at 7 a.m. -- always around 8 or 9 -- and have never had problems getting a ticket OR had to wait in a long line.

My opinion -- and I am sure a thousand people on this board will disagree -- is that there is probably a huge rush of people first thing in the morning. Around 8:30 or 9, it tapers off and you can get your tickets without waiting forever. You may get them for a show that%26#39;s at 10:30 or 11...however, you will want to spend probably an hour (maybe 30 min if you have trouble standing) seeing the museum and the waterfront park they%26#39;ve recently created. You can also leave and come back -- there%26#39;s a mall within a 10 min drive of the Arizona, and lots of places around it where you could grab some coffee or something.

Otherwise, if you do go and have to wait, there are plenty of places to sit -- the theatres are on one side of the complex and the musuem/gift shop on the other, and in the middle is an open area with lots of sitting room. No worries about that!

You do have to pick up your own ticket -- but I expect if someone really has a problem with standing and the line is long, you could talk to one of the park rangers and they%26#39;ll help you out.

We went Jan 6th, arrived around 7:30, line started moving as soon as we got there,

received tickets for the 3rd showing, at 8:15,

walked around the Museum, and park, then it

was time to line up for the film.

Great day**

full of History. Better than we had

expected. Learned so much that we didn%26#39;t

know before. And my husband is a history buff.

Aloha!!!
