Best Restaurants near Waikiki Beach

What are the best, reasonably priced restaurants near Waikiki Beach?

everyone talks about DUKES being crowded. We found that for an early breakfast or late lunch/early dinner it is the place to be!

Breakfast buffet for $12 something is a deal ...

and if you go at 4:00 (before the party crowd) you can get a nice light bite and a drink in peace.

The steak house upstairs is also good.. We paid about $200.00 for dinner for 4 with a bottle of wine. Don%26#39;t think places like the Cheesecake Factory will save you much ~ after a 45 minute wait and not great service our bill for 4 was almost the same..... after day three, we realized that we traveled all the way to Hawaii and would stop penny pinching...

We liked the Shorebird, where you cook your own meat. Thought that Dukes was a bit overrated. Tiki%26#39;s also had good food. But it seemed most places cost about the same, so I wouldn%26#39;t worry about the extra couple bucks at some of the nicer restaurants.

We did like Aloha Sushi though, very reasonable prices and great food. Its is past the hilton, though its more of a take-out place. We went for lunch and took our food to the beach to eat.

We like the Shorebird as well. Duke%26#39;s is ok for a quick appy or drink in the middle of the day IMHO; but the Shorebird has much nicer food and plenty of it as well.

The prices were a little better too. BUT..the Lava Flows are way better at Duke%26#39;s!!!

The locals secret spot is the Hau Tree in the Kaimana Beach Hotel (Diamond Head section of Waikiki).

Just got back, Suntory Restaurant in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center has a lunch special in their Teppanyaki room. For dinner, Top of Waikiki has a sunset dining special. Aqua Cafe in Waikiki Shopping Plaza has good prices that you can find a coupon in the many coupon books that you find in the hotel or on the street.

If you haven%26#39;t tried Loco Moco, you should give it a try. I recommend the Aqua Cafe, in the food court below the Waikiki Shopping Plaza.

If you are willing to drive a short ways, I recommend the Maple Garden on Isenberg for Chinese food at a great price (especially for lunch). Or, the Dixie Grill near the Ward Center for BBQ.

Travelling to LA and Hawaii in January. I am very new to tipping. Do I tip at all restaurants, fast food outlets and cafes? How much do I tip?

Beside Hilo Hattie%26#39;s is a Zippy%26#39;s, it is my fav restaurant in Ohau...In the Ward Warehouse there is a Spaghetti Factory, great place...If you can find a Porgy%26#39;s Smorgy, it is a great buffet, there used to be one a block away from Outrigger Reef on the Beach but the entire block was demolished...shame, there was a great ice cream place there...Have a great time!

Another vote for the Shorebird. We had a great meal last month and it was a wonderful experience. The ahi tuna was incredible - and they had a lovely atmosphere. We thought the price was very reasonable and we didn%26#39;t have to wait to be seated. We got a table near the bar - there was an hour wait for a window seat. We stayed for drinks after and were able to see the fireworks at the Hilton. Have a great trip.

My husband and I really enjoyed Tiki%26#39;s, which was atop the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach (I think). We went there on Christmas Day for dinner and had fantastic service and the food was excellent. It was a little on the pricy side (for two teachers) but everything is pricy there.
