Questions about Feb time in Oahu, military discounts etc.

Me and my fiance are going there on our honeymoon Feb 6th-13th, so in about 6.5months, and I heard that it%26#39;s pretty rainy during that time. This is my third trip to Oahu, and my fiances first. He is active dute military USAF, does anyone know any military discounts that we might be able to get for Luas etc?

The only time I%26#39;ve ever been to Oahu is during the April time, I haven%26#39;t been there since 2001, and LOL I was 17 at the time, so now at 22, I would love to know the ';hot spots'; and some cool things to do.

Thanks for any information

I would just ask everywhere I made reservations. I remember seeing on numerous websites that said they offer discounts to military personel. Of course since it didnt pertain to me I ignored it and now cant remember where I saw it at.

There are discounts of all kinds offered in Hawaii, some specificly for the military.

If you decide to visit the Big Island look into booking a cabin inside the Volcanos National Park at KMC, it is a military owned camp with very nice cabins for rent at very resonable prices.

Just noticed in another thread that you will be staying at an Outrigger hotel. They have their own military desk. You might want to check with them regarding discounts:

outrigger.com/…

I forgot to mention we booked our stay at the Outrigger on the Reef. We got a real good deal on Expedia.com. Since he%26#39;s deployed right now I had to make these decisions alone, but it worked out well.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian village before and it was great and another hotel on Lewers street, I can%26#39;t remember the name of the hotel, oh well, but this place looked pretty good, and I remember it being next to the HHV and were only 22 and 23 yrs old so we don%26#39;t need this huge ';luxury'; stay. Were gonna be out and about all the time, I heard they do upgrades there alot so I%26#39;m hoping we get a nice room.

You could of stayed at the Hale Koa. It%26#39;s the military hotel. But if you got a great deal from expedia than stick with it. You can buy all your tickets at the MWR office. There is one right next to the NEX near Pearl Harbor. Alot of companies will offer a military discount but sometimes their discount is not as cheap as the MWR. For instance, when I was there back in May we got tickets for the Atlantis submarine ride for $17.00 when they are normally $80.

Plus each month the MWR has monthly specials from different companies. They can also recommend which companies to use. We were going to use a particular company for parasailing but the lady at the MWR office told us not to because that company has alot of complaints and cancels it%26#39;s trips alot.

I do know that the MWR also has discounted tickets to luaus. Plus they rent snorkeling gear, surf boards, kyacks, boogie boards for real cheap!!

With a military ID you can go to Bellows AFB on the windward side of the island and enjoy the beach there. It%26#39;s my favorite!!

Here%26#39;s some info to contact them:

ITT @ the NEX, Mall at Pearl Harbor

Phone: (808) 422-2757

MWR does have discount prices for all the luaus on the island, dinner cruises, snorkeling/SCUBA excursions, PCC, Kualoa Ranch, etc. Definitely visit the one at the NEX near Pearl Harbor--they are open 7 days a week and offer tons of activities at discounts, including interisland.

FYI...Hilo Hattie (major souvenir/clothing store) has a 20% discount w/military ID that isn%26#39;t really advertised.

A fun place for dinner near your hotel is Tiki%26#39;s Bar %26amp; Grill.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about your Feb. visit--we had friends here at that time last year and they enjoyed wonderful weather with minimal rain. Of course it%26#39;s possible, but nothing to obsess over. Congrats, and have a great time.

IA,

Is that on top of the regular discounts?

re Hilo Hattie military discount

I guess I%26#39;m not sure, based on my purchases. I think for sale items, definitely. However, not sure if you could combine another coupon/offer w/the military discount. It couldn%26#39;t hurt to try!

Thanks IA...I just asked because it always seems that instore (not counting coupons) they have a 2 for 1 going....

Also, do you know if it applies to retired military?
