fixed wing question for hawaiidan

Aloha, what is the name of the outfit for the fixed wing tour that you recommend? Is it better for us to book online before arriving? We%26#39;re staying at Hapuna end of Feb. Where would we depart from on this tour? My hubby looking at blue hawaii helo also but I%26#39;ve been reading threads that we%26#39;ll see more on fixed wing aircraft. We are a group of 4 adults. p.s. We%26#39;d love to cut your grass instead of shovel our snow.

The outfit that I have taken is Big Island Air....and they dont have a web site.. bt are at the south end of the Kona Airport and flys from there..... it costs about $240 for a 2 hour tour and covers the entire island...it sees 40% more island than any helo tour..... and has better views too.. they have custom 3x3 ft windows

I have taken Blue Hawaiian too. They are excellent too..... but because the helos cost more to operate you will pay about $360 for a 2 hour tour that totlay misses the Kohala Mountains as I recall... only the Hamakua waterfalls.... (1/6th the size of kohala mt)

For safety, I as former pilot would always pick a fix wing single engine as the safest going..... ( A company on maui, just lost one of their brand new ';eco stars'; when the engine up and quit on a tour 3 days ago.)

So in the past 60 days there have been 3 helo incidents ; 2 with fatalities.....no fx wings have eaten the ';concrete buritto'; in years.

What is this '; snow'; you spoke of....

lest you think I am overly cautious.... anothter Helo on Hawaii went down today at the volcano. (1-10-06) Gimme a fix wing.

I got to this age by being cautious and suspect.....there are old pilots and bold pilots....there are no old and bold pilots.

Several......of the big name operators. it iis not their fault it is a function of reality......

Is the cost $240 per person for the fixed wing?

last time checked..... it was 240.

I know that your hotel, their concierges can often times get you better deals.....

But these are the top folks in my opinion....
