I am planning a weeks stay on Kauai as part of my Honeymoon in August. After doing some research it looks as though the Hyatt and Princeville resorts are going to be out of my reach financially. I have looked at the Sheraton, Radisson, Resortquest Islander, Marriot etc. but each seems to have many pros and cons. What I am asking is - could somebody who knows these hotels please advise us? Many thanks.

Also check less expensive accommodations at castleresorts.com, e.g., the Kiahuna Plantation. Friends stayed there with family for their wedding on the shore at Poipu and were happy. I am not real sure if they have air-conditioning tho, but maybe some of their other hotels do. Marriott has three locations on Kauai...the newest (bought older resort and revamped) is Courtyard on the east side and the most expensive is the Waiohai Beach Resort on the south side. Most convenient to everything, walkable distances to restaurants and shops is the one at Nawiliwili Harbor (Kauai Marriott). Some reviews are iffy for the latter.
If you are very frugal look at Aloha Beach Resort at Lydgate Park area in Wailua/Kapaa.

Have a peek at this with pictures and reviews. Might suit you to a tee!
Aloha!
For me, there is no question...Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club....GOOD pool, nice beach, pretty grounds, good restaurants on-site, excellent location. They have some good deals going with 5th night FREE, $75 food credit and a free upgrade. It would be my choice.
