Hello- I am currently planning my honeymoon for April 2006 and am unsure where to stay on Maui. Any advice would be fantastic. We would like to snorkel, drink cocktails, horseride, go on boat cruises etc. So many places to stay. We are unsure which area to chose? We are looking at either Maui Kai/Valley Isle or Napili Bay Resort? If anyone has stayed in these areas/condos, please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks,
Tanya
Maui Honeymoon- Kaanapali or Napilli?? Please help.
Hi Tanya:)
We have been to Maui twice, and both times we stayed in the Napili area. We just love it there. On our 1st trip (10/04)we rented a condo at the Napili Bay Resort. And we stayed at the Napili Shores 12/30/05-1/6/06. We really liked the Napili Bay Resort. It is not fancy (no pools, maid service, or restaurants on the premise), but it is right on the gorgeous beach of Napili Bay. There are a few restaurants within walking distance (The Seahouse, The Gazebo, and Fish and Poi). It is about a 10-15 min. drive from Kaanapali. I am not really familiar with the Maui Kai/Valley Isle Resort, but I don%26#39;t think it is right on Kaanapali Beach, but is actually north of it in Honokowai.Check out wizardpub.com for ariel views of each of these places. We have not stayed in Kaanapali, but we did spend a few days there. It is a lot busier than Napili, with high-rise resorts, and lots of shops and restaurants. There are some snorkel and susnset cruises that leave from Kaanapali, but I think most of them leave from either Lahaina or Maalea Harbor. Kaanapali is closer to Lahaina than Napili is. Both places would be a great place for a honeymoon, but on our next trip to Maui we will return to Napili Bay again. Please let me know if you have any questions! Good luck with your planning.

Tanya, Did you mean this April because time is wasting, if you did.? There are lots of school vacations in April here in the States. If you meant April of 2007, you are fine.
Congratulations,
We spent our honeymoon at Napili bay, and I just loved it and so did my husband. We wanted something more private and I am glad we chose Napili because we spent some time in the Kaanapali area and it had a completely different feel.
Napili bay feels like an old timey beach house, back when people went to the beach to sit on the porch and watch the waves come in, take walks down the beach and just relax.
Kaanapali is more of a get dressed up and shop-for-designer-beachwear kind of place. It seemed busy to me after being at Napili bay. We were ready to go ';home'; to Napili after only a few hours anywhere else on the island.
It is very quiet and peaceful.
However, if you need a maid to clean your room and change the towels, or if you need room service to bring you a sandwich, or you really want a pool, Napili Bay may not suit you. It was perfect for us and I can%26#39;t wait to return.
Thanks for all your advice! We can not wait to get to Maui but really dont want to be disappointed with our apartment. We are going to hire a car to have a look around the island. Any tips or advice on what to see/do (including best cruises- snorkel trips etc).
That would be great.
Thanks again for your help.
Tanya
Opps. Sorry. It is April 2006! So we are running out of time I know.
We stayed out Maui Kai Unit 705. It is owned by an individual. The condo was amazing and our visit was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. The price was very reasonable, the furniture and kitchen appliances were very modern and new and attractive. The bed was very comfortable and so were the blankets. The lanai was the best of all. You feel like you are sitting on top of the ocean because you are so close. We couldn%26#39;t even tell there was a beach unless we looked straight down from our lanai. We made ourselves frozen drinks every night with the blender the room had and sat out on the lanai staring off to Molokai. Here is the link to the individual who owns #705:
