We are planning on going there next August with out 10 year old daughter to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary.

I%26#39;ve read mixed reviews about the propery especially the difficulty in getting a ';room with a view.';

Any comments/suggestions?

Thanks

If you like to snorkel, I think you%26#39;re staying on the best beach on the island. We didn%26#39;t stay here but parked at the park next door and found superb water conditions and nice trees which offered shade. Personally, if I stayed there, I%26#39;d be out on the beach all day (under a shade tree) so needing an oceanview room probably wouldn%26#39;t be my top concern.

You didn%26#39;t mention how you booked your villa. Was it from an owner, as an exchange or directly through the Westin? You definately want an ocean view unit (ocean front being best) as the island view units face the highway. Yes you get a great view of the mountains however you also get alot of highway noise. You are traveling during peak summer season so owners that have ocean view units will get the best ocean views. If you booked with the Westin I would put in a request for a high floor facing the pool. The other ocean view units are next to the park and look across the park parkinglot out to the ocean if you are on a high floor it should be just fine (however I understand the lights from the park parkinglot annoy some people at night)and the units facing the construction of the new buildings to the North. I do not know how the new resort buildings to the North will impact the existing oceanview units on that side. FYI only very few of the studio units have a balcony. You can do a virtual tour at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas website. Have a great trip!

First, let me say that I%26#39;ve never had a difficulty with any Westing Hotel.

It can%26#39;t hurt to join the club (so to speak)Westin/Sheraton hotels have the Starwood Preferred Guest or Starwood Club, it doesn%26#39;t cost anything: we%26#39;ve had many upgrades (we prefer the Westin chain b/c of the beds %26amp; service) and they always do nice things like put complimentary bottled water in our room, on one occasion they brought us a tray of fresh fruit and some peanuts and snacks. You can sign up for free at www.starwood.com.

We%26#39;ll be staying at the Westin in February and I%26#39;m looking forward to it.

Happy Anniversary!
