We are leaving for the Four Seasons next month (Feb). I have heard that the hotel is under construction, especially the pool. Has anyone returned from there recently? Any updates on the construction?
Also, did you eat at Spiaggia or Ferraro%26#39;s? Would like a review of the restaurants. and, what time is sunset in February?
Thanks
Four Seasons Resort Wailea Maui
Aloha!
I know that the Four Seasons in LANAI is under renovations, but not the Four Seasons in Wailea, Maui.

Thanks for the info on the Four Seasons. We are planning to meet out daughter and son-in-law in Lanai for a day. They are staying for five days. Hope the construction is not too bad when we are there.
Still need info on Ferraro%26#39;s and Spiagia at the Four Seasons on Maui--good food? What time is sunset to a romantic dinner?
Blarneymo,
Spoken like a true Chicagoan.
I regret to inform you that the FS in Maui does not have a Spiaggia, although I believe those of us from Chicago should request that Chef Mantuano and his partners open a location there. Unfortunately, FS Maui has a Spago, and not a Spiaggia.
I have dined at Spago twice. If you like Spiaggia, you will not like the Maui version of Spago. Avoid it. The cooking is boring and the staff is unpleasant (see my posts elsewhere).
The food at Ferraro%26#39;s was not great, but the location is beautiful and the service is outstanding. When you get there, the staff will let you know what time to enjoy a sunset.
Another option: Forget about dinner at sunset. Get a drink and enjoy the sunset from the beach. Save dinner for later in the evening
Thanks - drinks and appetizers on the beach sounds great! Can%26#39;t wait to go. Do you know if the hotel pool is under construction? I have heard it is.
I have not heard anything about construction on the property. I know that when I went the first time about three years ago, they were re-building the area around Ferraro%26#39;s, so I assume they would not do that again so soon.
I will let you know Thursday night (assuming United Airlines can get its act together by then).
Can%26#39;t wait to hear about the Four Seasons and any construction.
Was there in late December and they are renovating random rooms (about 8 or so at a time). The ones being renovated are generally in the same vicinity. Walking through the hallways, I heard lots of noise coming from those rooms (hammering, etc).
Last time I saw, there was no construction in the pool.
What room type do you have? The rooms (generally Mountain View) facing toward the street (Wailea Alanui) will hear construction of the townhomes across the Four Seasons.
The breakfast buffet at Pacific Grill is OK. They should do something about all the fruit flies though. It%26#39;s disgusting. Didn%26#39;t get a chance to eat at the other two restaurants. Although, I did get room service a couple times and I believe the food came from Ferraro%26#39;s. It was good and convenient!
There is no construction around the pool (or anywhere else that I have seen). It looks like the pool area has been re-done since I was here last. They have also added a few cabana areas facing the beach. They actually improved the property, which I was not sure was possible. There is ongoing construction across the street. So far we have not heard any noise.
Yesterday we had dinner at Pacific Grill. I had an excellent wasabi-crusted tuna. Very rare, very good. My wife also had fish and it was very good.
Breakfast today was the buffet. It was as good as I remember it. We both had omelettes made to order.
My wife spent the morning at the spa. She had the scrub wrap rub package. It was nice way to start the trip. The massage in particular was enjoyed.
The hotel does seem pretty full, and with more children than I recall in the past.
Our room is a partial ocean view room. The room itself is nice (the typical room here), with a view of the ocean, but it also overlooks the driveway so we will change rooms in the morning. When we asked, we had the usual Four Seasons service that we love: ';No problem sir. We will take care of that as soon as a room becomes available.'; That is why whenever I travel I first see if there is a Four Seasons.
The beach path was amazing as always. In the morning we grabbed a cup of coffee (free of course) and then walk the path to the Kea Lani and back. The views are stunning. It is an incredible way to wake up.
Tonight is Ferraro%26#39;s. I will post a review when I get a chance, but it may be in a week.
Thanks for all your comments. We have a partial ocean view room so hopefully we will not be bothered with the construction across the street.
Has anyone done the whale watching tour? I really would like to go on one but have heard the water is pretty rough in February. I do have a tendency to get seasick.
Let me know how Ferraro%26#39;s is-I have heard it is a great place to eat and watch the sunset. Have you been to Mama%26#39;s FishHouse?
Ferraro%26#39;s is a great place to watch the sunset--you are right over the beach. Make reservations to get a good table at sunset. We decided to go at the last minute on night and were only able to get seats at the bar-which is still ok!
Mama%26#39;s Fish House was our favorite restaurant on Maui--beautiful location %26amp; great food!
