Kauai with 18 and 16 ye old boys

Where is the best most inexpensive place to stay on Kauai with our 2 sons who are 18 and 16. We have been looking at Poipu Kai Resort, Hideaway Villas, Kiahuna condos. Any preference or other recommendations?

Aloha!

Kauai Coast Resort...east side, right next to Coconut Marketplace...they could walk over by themselves, eat, shop, see a movie, etc. Another resort that is near the Coconut Marketplace is the ResortQuest Islander on the Beach...newly remodled and looking good!

Thank you Bryan. What is the proximity to the beaches from these, and what beach?

Aloha!

Well, the Kauai Coast and the Islander are on beaches that are not real good for swimming. BUT, you can get in the car, drive 5 minutes or so and be at Lydgate Beach which is good for swimming and snorkeling.

You should be able to get a decent rate on a 2BR at Kaua%26#39;i Coast Resort. It%26#39;s REALLY nice, even the garden-view rooms. I think I went through a tour company - google ';Kauai Coast Resort'; and reservations.

KCR is on the Coconut (east) coast, and up the road from my usual haunt. The location gives you easy access to both north and south shores, so you%26#39;ll have tons of beaches to choose from.

You might also look at Pono Kai (condos) - preferably one away from the road. It%26#39;s supposed to be pretty decent. There%26#39;s a Marriott Courtyard up the road from KCR, which might be an option.

There are a whole bunch of condos down in the Po%26#39;ipu area.

Probably the best condo on a good swimming beach is Kiahuna in Poipu....but it%26#39;s a bit pricey compared to many of the condos on the east shore. Of course, you can often get good rates at Kiahuna if you%26#39;re willing to stay in a garden-view room, some of which are a five-minute from the beach. Are the boys wanting to spend lots of time at the beach, at a pool....? If a swimming beach isn%26#39;t that important, the east shore might be fine.
